Smith Rocks, OR
i had obviously heard a ton about Smith Rocks, but you never really can capture a place by verbage...you need to see it for yourself, take it all in, and then give your true opinion. Upon our arival, from the road outside the park, my first sight of this place instantly filled my head with thoughts and excitement. There was no question that this was one of the coolest places that i had ever seen. I felt like getting out of the truck and running the rest of the way my excitement was so wired.
The cool thing about this trip is that we only had a day (which turned into a half day due to an epic storm that rolled in) and with that, there was no pressure. My brother-in-law Aaron and I were there to have fun and climb great routes. We ended up only getting in 4 routes but we were super psyched regardless. Routes like 9 gallon buckets made the day awesome. When there is time for more of an extended trip I'll be for sure re-visiting this place to push and send.
