Ouray, CO
From when I first had heard about the Ouray Ice Festival, to this coming year's competition it's been a great learning process. Competing at this event, and i mean actually "competing" with the best...it's no easy task. My first year in this event was an eye opener. I was out of my league and far from being strong enough. But from that first year until now, there's been something growing inside of me, a passion that isn't ready to give up. A passion so strong that for this upcoming year (2010), there's going to be a big difference, a change if you will. For this year, my goal is to be strong enough to compete...to really compete. Ouray is a magical place, something out of a story book. It seems so surreal every time i return. Nestled in this giant canyon, Ouray Colorado is one of the most beautiful places i've ever been to. To boot, it has an unreal ice/mixed climbing canyon right in the middle of town. And when you're done trashing your body up and down this canyon, there's a big public hot spring pool awaiting your every muscle.
